Coming-soon signage has gone up at the former Mozzeria space on H Street NE, marking Bullfrog Bagels' long-promised return to the corridor after its original shop there closed late last year. The new signage doesn't come with a storefront ready for customers just yet, but it's the clearest sign in months that the bagel chain is actually moving back in.
According to popville.com, the coming-soon signage is now posted at the old Mozzeria space, the building that housed the Deaf-owned Neapolitan pizzeria before it closed in late 2024. As reported by WhatNow, Bullfrog Bagels has construction underway at the address, and the interior is still being built out behind that temporary sign.
A Shop That Closed, Then Promised to Come Back
Bullfrog Bagels announced its H Street relocation in late 2025, telling customers at the time that its original H Street shop was shutting down for good. “As of TODAY our H Street Shop is closed. We ARE MOVING to another H Street Location,” the company said, per popville.com. In that same announcement, staff told the outlet they would ultimately be moving somewhere else on H Street but didn't yet know where or when.
In the meantime, the company pointed loyal customers elsewhere. “Please visit our Eastern Market, Union Station and Brookland Tastemakers,” Bullfrog Bagels said, according to the same popville.com report — a nod to the fact that the company still runs four operational storefronts across the district, including locations in Eastern Market on Capitol Hill, Union Station, Tastemakers in Brookland, and Foggy Bottom.
Food Truck Fills the Gap
To keep serving H Street regulars while construction continues, Bullfrog Bagels has leaned on a food truck. The company opened the truck in mid-December as a stopgap, telling popville.com at the time, “We are opening a Bullfrog Bagels Food Truck location 12/13 off H Street while we transition to a new space nearby!” That operation runs Wednesdays through Sundays, with store hours listed on bullfrogbagels.com showing pickup or delivery from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Bullfrog Bagels also runs another food truck servicing Tenleytown, per WhatNow.
No Firm Opening Date Yet
Despite the new signage, Bullfrog Bagels has not announced a precise opening date for the H Street storefront, WhatNow reports. The construction is tied to 1300 H Street NE, with the business also listing an address at 1300 H St NW, Washington, DC 20005, according to the same report.
