Burger She Wrote has opened its third and largest Los Angeles location, a 25-seat shop at 11686 San Vicente Blvd in Brentwood that debuted on October 3. The skate-culture-infused smashburger brand, co-founded by professional skateboarder Don “Nuge” Nguyen, now has a physical footprint bigger than either of its two earlier Los Angeles-area storefronts.

As reported by CBS News Los Angeles, Burger She Wrote brings together burgers and skate culture. The Brentwood location spans indoor, outdoor, and counter seating, according to CurationsLA, which notes the new shop represents the brand's largest physical space to date.

The menu's centerpiece remains the Oklahoma Smashburger, a regional riff built on 100% Snake River Farms American Wagyu beef, smashed with thin onions and served on King's Hawaiian buns. Nguyen, an Oklahoma native, co-founded the concept in 2021.

A Shop Built Around Skateboarding

The Brentwood interior leans explicitly into Southern California skate culture, with wall photography from Atiba Jefferson, Ed Templeton, and Estevan Oriol paired with custom multi-colored vintage tiles, per CurationsLA's account of the buildout. Nguyen's skateboarding résumé runs deep: he is a professional skateboarder and played real-life skater Shogo Kubo in the 2005 film Lords of Dogtown, according to a Wikipedia entry cited in coverage from Hypebeast.

That identity extends off the menu and into apparel through a limited-edition Brixton clothing collaboration.

Founding Team and a Co-Founder's Legacy

Burger She Wrote was founded in 2021 as a partnership between Nguyen, the late Los Angeles restaurateur Steven Arroyo, and entrepreneur Mikayel Israyelyan of Muse Lifestyle Group, according to SoCal Pulse's reporting on the founding team. Arroyo, known for creating landmark establishments like Cobras & Matadors and Church & State, died at age 55 in July 2024 from medical complications following cancer treatment, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. The Brentwood opening arrives more than two years after his death.

The brand's growth has moved quickly since that original Beverly Boulevard shop opened in the Fairfax district. Burger She Wrote expanded to a second storefront at 14245 Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks in May, a move Hoodline reported was already in motion when commercial filings pointed toward a future Brentwood expansion.

A Crowded Market

The Westside burger scene includes concepts such as The Win-Dow and For The Win. In a competitive fast-casual field, Burger She Wrote's bet is that its skate-industry identity and merchandise partnerships can set it apart from other San Vicente-area options.
