The Camden County Police Department has issued a “Help us find” appeal in a Facebook post.
The appeal sought help finding Robertson.
What missing-child figures do—and don’t—show
Official counts offer broader context, but they measure different things and do not provide information about Robertson’s case. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children says it handled 196 missing-child cases from New Jersey in 2023. That total is not a count of every missing-child report in the state: it included 98 cases involving children missing from social services facilities, 61 other missing-child cases and 37 children reported missing by the Office of Refugee Resettlement.
A separate FBI National Crime Information Center report counted 25,493 active missing-person records for juveniles under 18 nationwide as of Dec. 31, 2024. That is a national snapshot of active records, not a New Jersey report total or a measure of cases like Robertson’s; it should not be read as evidence of a trend in Camden.
For case response, the New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit provides technical and investigative assistance to agencies handling missing-person cases. The state police say AMBER Alerts are intended for cases where there is reason to believe a child was abducted and may face danger of death or serious bodily injury—not every missing-child incident. Those criteria describe the alert system, not the circumstances of Robertson’s disappearance.
