Where missing-person records are maintained
New Jersey State Police says its Missing Persons Unit maintains a centralized database of people reported missing and unidentified persons in the state. Separately, the National Institute of Justice describes NamUs as a national database and support program, but cautions that its entries do not necessarily reflect every missing-person case in a state or jurisdiction. Those descriptions do not establish whether Medina’s case appears in either database.
