A Canadian fast-casual chain known for folding Indian and Mediterranean flavors into its burritos is about to make its U.S. debut in Apopka. Burrito Guyz is preparing its first American location at 2895 Ocoee Apopka Road, Suite C in Building 2, inside the Lake Carter Exchange development, with an opening expected in December 2026.
No exact opening date has been set, according to whatnow.com, which reports that a restaurant-related permit application for the site was still in process as of October 2. The Apopka location will mark Burrito Guyz's entry into the Florida market, and it will be operated by Paddy Patel's Investment Group.
Brothers Viraag and Krunal Patel will own and run the restaurant, according to the Business Debut, which reported that the pair signed an area development agreement with Burrito Guyz's Canadian head office covering the entire state of Florida. Krunal also serves as co-owner and will help steer future locations in Georgia, where the Apopka Chief notes the Patels hold a first right of refusal for development.
A Menu That Travels Beyond Tex-Mex
Burrito Guyz describes itself as a fast-casual concept built around burritos, tacos and similarly customizable formats, according to Business Debut. The chain's website lists burritos and rice bowls alongside quesadillas, nachos, tacos and taco salads, as The Apopka Chief first reported.
What sets the menu apart is its blend of international flavors layered onto a standard Tex-Mex base, drawing from India, Thailand and the Mediterranean, per the same outlet. Guests can expect options like tikka-style chicken and shawarma-style fillings mixed in with standard Mexican ingredients, alongside more traditional choices such as a steak burrito or a butter chicken bowl, as well as paneer. Viraag Patel has said the concept aims to provide great food and good value.
Big Ambitions Across Florida and Georgia
The Apopka restaurant is just the opening chapter for the Patel family's Florida plans. Viraag and Krunal initially plan to open 16 locations across Central Florida, with a broader target of 30 to 35 locations across the state in total, including the planned Apopka restaurant, and they're looking at opening about eight locations in the first two years. Whatnow.com separately reports the family's goal as opening 12 restaurants in Central Florida while pursuing additional franchise opportunities across Florida and Georgia; Burrito Guyz itself is expected to eventually have up to 30 or more future locations in the state.
The Apopka project is currently in the permitting stage, with permits expected within about a week and a roughly three-month buildout anticipated once construction begins. Burrito Guyz currently operates a cluster of locations across Ontario, Canada, including in Stratford, Orillia, Porcupine, Niagara Falls, Hamilton, Guelph, Windsor and Cambridge, according to the company's store locator. The chain also advertises franchise opportunities with lower investment costs compared to other Mexican brands on its company website, a pitch that appears central to its expansion strategy south of the border.
