A former swim instructor from Canonsburg has been sentenced to 14.5 to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing six children. Leo Adam Johnathan McIntyre III, 31, must also serve 30 years of probation once he is released and will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

According to WPXI, McIntyre pleaded guilty to all charges related to sexually abusing six children, who ranged in age from 6 to 13. One victim told police they had been assaulted at least 100 times, the outlet reported.

Lifetime Registration Required Under Megan's Law

Per the sentence, McIntyre must register as a Megan's Law sex offender for the rest of his life, the station's report states. Pennsylvania law generally requires qualifying individuals to register with the Pennsylvania State Police for a period of 10 years unless an exception or lifetime-registration provision applies.

Under that same law, lifetime registration applies to individuals classified as sexually violent predators, those with two or more qualifying convictions, and people with certain convictions for listed offenses committed during specified dates.

Former Goldfish Swim School Employee

McIntyre worked at Goldfish Swim School in McMurray, Pennsylvania, the station's report notes. Goldfish management told Channel 11 in 2022 that McIntyre was fired for not following the company's curriculum and failing to comply with brand standards.

The report also states that McIntyre's victims were not from Goldfish Swim School. No further information was provided about where the alleged assaults occurred.
