Cobwebs, candlelight and bubbling pots of cheese are sharing the stage at Colorado Fondue Company in Casselberry this fall, as the independently owned restaurant undergoes its annual Halloween transformation. The dining room decor shift, which turns the entire space into a themed experience, is running on various dates through October 31.
Casselberry diners know the drill by now. As reported by FOX 35 Orlando, Colorado Fondue Company was featured in a Halloween-makeover segment. The restaurant itself sits at 1016 E. Semoran Blvd. in Casselberry, according to Food Network, which lists Original Cheddar Fondue and Mocha White Chocolate Fondue among its special dishes.
A Four-Course Meal With a Side of Scares
The format hasn't changed even as the walls go full haunted house. Diners choose from four courses — soup or salad, cheese fondue, a main entrée and chocolate fondue — a structure detailed by thisfloridalife.com. Food Network notes the restaurant features cheese and dessert fondue flavors including Original Cheddar, Alpine Swiss and Dark Raspberry Chocolate.
The main course comes with a twist that sets Colorado Fondue Company apart from typical oil-pot fondue spots. Orlando Date Night Guide reports that instead of boiling meats and vegetables in oil, guests get a hot rock to cook their entrées on right at the table, a detail the site shared on its page about the restaurant.
Decades of Seasonal Makeovers
This isn't a one-off gimmick. Colorado Fondue Company has been in business for about 34 years. The restaurant maintains a winter-chateau theme year-round, with Halloween decor adding a seasonal layer.
Thisfloridalife.com, which has documented the seasonal switch-up before, says the transformation typically begins in September, with decorations spreading throughout the lobby and dining room. Past Halloween seasons have brought spooky-but-not-scary lighting effects, candles, jack-o'-lanterns, Halloween movie clips and animated haunts near the kitchen entrance, according to that site's account. Past menus have also featured seasonal touches like butternut squash soup and a ghost-pepper cheese fondue described as ghoulishly spicy, alongside cocktails that ranged from $5.50 to $6.50 — though those specific prices and dishes reflect previous years rather than this season's offerings.
A Fondue Staple With National Attention
Colorado Fondue Company's reputation extends beyond Central Florida. The restaurant has been featured on the Food Network and Travel Channel, per thisfloridalife.com's reporting. Closer to home, the restaurant is independently owned rather than part of a chain. On Facebook, the restaurant's page states it opened in 1992, a detail shared on its own Facebook account.
With Halloween landing on Saturday, the restaurant's seasonal makeover centers on the holiday.
