Greenville shoppers looking for a new pair of boots or a properly shaped hat will have a fresh option this Friday, when Cavender's Boot City opens its doors at 1025 Woodruff Road. The 9,772-square-foot store marks the Texas-based western retailer's first location in the Upstate and its second in South Carolina, following an earlier store in Myrtle Beach.
The grand opening is set for Friday, Oct. 30, according to thestate.com, which lists the Woodruff Road address as the store's location. The site sits within the Magnolia Park shopping center, next to Nordstrom Rack, giving the new store a prominent spot along one of Greenville's busiest retail strips. As reported by the Upstate Business Journal, the Greenville opening gives Cavender's its first foothold in the region.
Inside, shoppers will find Cavender's full lineup of western apparel and accessories for men, women and children, including hats, shirts, jeans, dresses, belts, work boots and western accent accessories, according to greenvilleonline.com. The store will also offer personalized services, including boot fitting, boot stretching and hat shaping, the outlet reports.
A Second South Carolina Store Backed by a Six-Figure Buildout
Greenville's store follows the same playbook Cavender's used on the coast. The chain was founded in 1965 in Pittsburg, Texas, and now operates more than 130 stores across 18 states, per the same report. Company vice president of store operations Byron Norton said South Carolina has welcomed the brand with open arms, and that the company is excited to continue growing in the state and bring its workwear, western apparel, boots and Texas hospitality to the Upstate.
Behind the scenes, the buildout took real money and several months of work. Magnolia Park Greenville LLC secured a $500,000 commercial alteration permit for a full tenant improvement at the Woodruff Road address, according to a permit report from pembertondata.com. The permit, issued Aug. 3, covered interior and exterior work on an existing building shell, with Horizon Retail Construction identified as the contractor handling the job.
The same report noted that Woodruff Road remains one of Greenville's most active commercial corridors, and that the scale of the investment points to continued demand for finished retail space along the strip.
A Coastal Preview of What's Coming to the Upstate
South Carolina shoppers got a preview of the Cavender's experience a few days earlier on the coast. A 19,000-square-foot Cavender's Boot City opened in North Myrtle Beach on Oct. 25, according to the Post and Courier. That store, located at 2301 Highway 17 S, carries the same full line of men's, women's and children's hats, shirts, jeans, dresses, belts, work boots and western accent accessories, along with personalized boot fitting, hat shaping and boot stretching, according to WPDE. The North Myrtle Beach location also stocks brands including Ariat, Wrangler and Resistol, the station reports.
With the Myrtle Beach store already up and running, the Greenville opening rounds out Cavender's early presence in South Carolina, giving the chain a coast-to-Upstate footprint in the state. Store information is available through Cavender's own website, cavenders.com.
