Golfers will tee off before 9 a.m. on Nov. 6 at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate for the 12th Annual Golf Quest, a fundraiser aimed at supporting Central Florida residents with developmental disabilities. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., with a shotgun start set for 8:30 a.m., kicking off a day of golf built around a cause that stretches well beyond the fairway.
The tournament is put on by Quest Inc., a nonprofit that provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities, according to WESH. The organization says its mission is helping people live, learn, work and thrive in the community, and the money raised through Golf Quest goes toward job training, residential programs and recreational activities for the people it serves.
Those programs reach a sizable footprint. Quest operates at more than 20 locations across Central Florida and Tampa Bay, per the organization's own account of last year's event on questinc.org. The tournament itself is designed to fund programs that touch hundreds of children and adults with developmental disabilities across Orlando and Tampa, according to the event page on questinc.org.
What Golfers Get for Their Entry
Anyone signing up, whether as part of a foursome or as an individual golfer, gets breakfast, lunch, a golf gift bag stuffed with swag, on-course experiences and a complimentary chance-drawing ticket, questinc.org notes. The round will be played on the International Course at the Omni resort, an 18-hole layout the organization describes as offering dramatic and challenging holes. The venue sits at 1500 Masters Boulevard in ChampionsGate.
Kim Wehagen, Quest Inc.'s senior director of philanthropy, spoke with the station about the organization's mission and the community impact the tournament supports, per WESH's report. Golf Quest is an annual fundraiser supporting disability services in the region.
A Track Record of Fundraising
Last year's 11th Annual Golf Quest, also held at the Omni Resort Orlando at ChampionsGate, pulled in nearly $55,000 for children and adults with developmental disabilities, according to the event recap on questinc.org.
Funding Quest's Programs
Golf Quest raises funds for Quest Inc.'s programs and services for people with developmental disabilities. Organizers have said in past years that proceeds from the tournament help make programs and services available to the thousands of individuals with developmental disabilities the nonprofit serves annually.
