A Channelview man is headed back to a Texas prison for 15 years after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography, just over a year after he was paroled from a previous five-year sentence for strikingly similar crimes. Christopher Lakner, 34, had been held on a $5 million bond while facing child pornography and online solicitation of a minor charges before entering his plea under an agreement with prosecutors.
Lakner's latest arrest, as reported by KPRC Click2Houston, traces back to May 2025, when Harris County Precinct 1 Constable deputies caught him messaging an undercover detective posing online as a 15-year-old girl and sending lewd images — all while he was still on parole, which had been granted just six months earlier in November 2024, according to FOX 26 Houston. FOX 26 Houston reported that Lakner's earlier 2019 case involved another undercover deputy.
Court records describe Lakner's arrest in granular detail: he was taken into custody wearing a blue McDonald's large fries cartoon t-shirt, accused of arranging to meet the purported 15-year-old for sex in the restaurant's bathroom. That solicitation charge, a first-degree felony, was ultimately dismissed as part of his plea bargain, according to the Click2Houston report, in exchange for his guilty plea to a third-degree felony count of possession of child pornography.
Evidence in the Case
Constable Precinct 1 Internet Crimes Against Children detectives gathered evidence that, according to court records cited by Click2Houston, included a video of nude girls ages 10 to 12 and a girl approximately 7 years old.
This was not Lakner's first run-in with Harris County's ICAC unit. His original 2019 arrest came as part of Operation Broken Heart, a major regional sweep targeting online predators that resulted in 51 arrests and the rescue of five children in the Houston area, as reported at the time by Newsweek. In that case, according to court records, Lakner asked an undercover deputy posing as a teenager to help kidnap children for sale as sex slaves, sent naked photos of himself, attempted to meet the deputy in person for sex, and told her he wanted to impregnate her to create children he planned to raise as sex slaves. He pleaded guilty to online solicitation of a minor and was sentenced to five years in prison.
A Pattern Across County Lines
Lakner's history of online offenses was not confined to Harris County. He was also convicted in Montgomery County of four second-degree felonies for possession of child pornography, and he had separately been sentenced there to 10 years of probation for sending sexually explicit images to an undercover officer, FOX 26 Houston reported.
Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen noted at the time of Lakner's May 2025 rearrest that it marked the second time in under three months that his office had arrested a paroled sex offender for alleged repeat child sex crimes, a pattern that has fueled local concern over how closely sex offenders are monitored after release. Rosen's office has handled a string of related cases, including the arrest of a repeat offender detailed in Hoodline's earlier coverage of a repeat offender's new arrest and a separate case involving a 73-year-old Houston stockbroker.
Part of a Larger Enforcement Push
Lakner's case is part of broader efforts to investigate digital child exploitation in Texas and nationally.
Under Texas Penal Code § 33.021, online solicitation of a minor is generally a third-degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison, but it escalates to a second-degree felony carrying up to 20 years if the targeted minor is believed to be under 14, according to legal analysis from Hunter, Lane & Jampala PLLC. Lakner was sentenced to 15 years for possession of child pornography.
Lakner is now headed back to a Texas prison to serve his 15-year term, closing out a case that began with a single undercover message and ended with investigators uncovering years of additional evidence on his phone.
