Charcoal Grill & Modern Buffet occupies Level 1 of the mall's Canyon section, right next to Dick's Sporting Goods, and it's already serving a menu that spans classic American favorites, international dishes and grilled meats.
Exactly when the doors opened depends on who you ask. A press release from Destiny USA states the restaurant was already open as of October 20, declaring, “Syracuse, NY (October 20, 2026) Destiny USA is excited to announce that Charcoal Grill & Modern Buffet is now open.” But CNY Central reported the opening happened the following day, writing that “Charcoal Grill & Modern Buffet is opening today at 3 p.m. at Destiny USA in Syracuse.” Either way, the wait for Syracuse's newest buffet is officially over.
What's on the Plate
Destiny USA's announcement describes a menu built around variety, promising diners everything “from juicy steaks and fresh seafood to a variety of global dishes,” alongside sushi and grilled meats. The restaurant brings what Destiny USA calls a new all-you-can-eat dining experience to the mall's Canyon area, filling a corner of the complex that's become a steady draw for new food concepts. As reported by CNY News, the restaurant serves sushi, international dishes, grilled meats, seafood and classic American favorites.
According to CNY News, Samantha Marshall said, “The wait is finally over – we're so excited to welcome Charcoal Grill & Modern Buffet to Destiny USA's dining lineup.” The opening also lands in a season when Destiny USA has been adding new tenants; per the same outlet, Toys “R” Us opened a store at the mall just in time for the holiday shopping season.
Hours, Pricing and Fine Print
The buffet runs on a split schedule: 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday and on holidays, per Destiny USA's release. Dinner buffets cost about $25 for adults, according to syracuse.com, which also notes the restaurant sits on the first floor in the Canyon section, next door to Dick's Sporting Goods. Takeout is available throughout the day as well, Destiny USA's announcement adds.
The restaurant's own website lays out a few extra details for anyone planning a visit. A 12% gratuity is automatically added for all parties, with the site noting that no additional tipping is needed, per charcoalgrillmodern.com. The Syracuse site lists both height ranges and age ranges for children, per charcoalgrillsyracuse.vercel.app. Separately, charcoalgrillmodern.com advertises a 10% discount for military members and seniors over 65.
A Long Time Coming
This opening has been in the works for a while. Syracuse.com reports that the restaurant's arrival at Destiny was first announced back in January 2025, meaning Central New York diners have had nearly two years to anticipate the buffet's debut. Now that the doors are open, it joins a growing list of dining options inside the mall's Canyon section.
