Guests will have dining options during the planned closures: Charleston Place says in-room dining and the rooftop bar, The Perch, will remain available. Club-level guests will also have access to a lounge serving meals and refreshments throughout the day, the Post and Courier reported.

Existing venues close by Jan. 1, 2027

The Palmetto Café and Thoroughbred Club are scheduled to close at the end of 2026. Meeting at Market will also close, leaving all three of the hotel’s remaining dining venues shut by Jan. 1, 2027, according to the Post and Courier.

Three replacement venues are planned for 2028

Charleston Place plans a signature restaurant, a pub-style casual dining venue and a lobby bar, all expected to open in 2028. Managing Director Becky Hubbard told the Post and Courier that names and menu details had not been settled, and that the new venues would recognize the restaurants they replace.

Historic-district review

City records say Charleston Place opened in 1986 at 205 Meeting Street and spans the blocks between Meeting and King streets and Market and Hasell streets, according to the City of Charleston. The City says its Board of Architectural Review examines new construction, alterations and renovations visible from the public right-of-way within historic districts. The city’s overview describes the review process for work in those districts.

The transition follows earlier changes to the hotel’s dining

Charleston Grill served its last customers on Aug. 23, 2025, after operating since 1989. The Post and Courier reported that the restaurant’s closure followed 36 years in business and was part of a renovation estimated at $150 million.

The former Charleston Grill space then hosted a yearlong pop-up by Daniel Humm of three-Michelin-star Eleven Madison Park, which concluded in October 2026. Eater Carolinas reported that the residency was planned for Humm and staff from Eleven Madison Park and centered on plant-forward, climate-conscious cooking using Lowcountry ingredients and traditions.
