A 34-year-old Cherry Valley man was arrested Thursday after Redlands police say he sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl in a business parking lot earlier in the week. Jack Henry Doshay is now being held without bail, and police say he is a registered sex offender.

According to communityforwardredlands.com, Redlands police detectives, assisted by the department’s SWAT team, served a warrant at a home in the 40300 block of Dutton Street in Cherry Valley on Thursday. The Redlands Police Department identified Doshay as the suspect, as first reported by KTLA.

What Police Say Happened in the Parking Lot

Police said the alleged assault occurred Oct. 25 in the parking lot of a business on Center Street in Redlands. The girl was the daughter of an acquaintance of Doshay, the same report states.

Doshay was booked on suspicion of committing lewd or lascivious acts on a child under 14 and contacting or communicating with a minor with intent to commit a crime, per the same account. He remains held without bail at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.

A Registered Sex Offender With a Prior Conviction

Police said Doshay is a registered sex offender. Doshay was convicted in a 2015 Solana Beach child-abduction case that drew statewide attention at the time.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the District Attorney’s Office said Doshay attacked a 7-year-old girl outside Skyline Elementary School in Solana Beach on the afternoon of March 23, 2015. He was arrested on April 1 of that year in connection with the alleged abduction attempt, according to a separate San Diego Union-Tribune report from that period.

Doshay later pleaded guilty in March 2017 to one count of kidnapping and one count of assault with intent to commit child molestation stemming from that incident, the Union-Tribune reported. He was sentenced that May to 10 years and four months in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
