Chesapeake police are asking for the public's help finding 16-year-old Rihanna Saunders, who was reported as a runaway after she was last seen at her home around 10:24 p.m. Wednesday. She left wearing blue pajama pants and a black jacket, according to investigators.
Saunders is described as a Black female standing approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, with black, red or auburn-colored hair and brown eyes, according to 13News Now. Police are working to safely locate the teenager, who has been classified as a runaway rather than an abduction case.
What Police Know So Far
The timeline released by investigators is narrow but specific: Saunders was at her Chesapeake residence around 10:24 p.m. Wednesday before she disappeared, per WTKR. Her last known outfit, the blue pajama pants and black jacket, is the only clothing detail police have released, and no additional identifying information has been made public beyond her physical description.
Anyone who sees Saunders or has information about her location is asked to call the Chesapeake Police Department at 757-382-6161, the station reports.
A Separate Case From Earlier This Year
This is not the first time Saunders has been reported missing in 2026. A separate report from May described her going missing around 10:40 p.m. on a Sunday in the 4300 block of Surf Avenue in Chesapeake, and the same report noted she was known to frequent areas in Chesapeake and Norfolk, the station's earlier coverage states. That account also described her with blue hair that may have been in braids, along with a nose piercing, and gave her height and weight as about 5 feet 4 inches and 150 pounds — details that differ from this week's description of 5 feet 5 inches and 160 pounds, with no black, red or auburn hair mentioned previously.
In that May case, authorities confirmed she had since been located safely, per the outlet's reporting. It is not known whether the current search is connected to that earlier incident, and police have not said so.
