A two-vehicle crash on Harrowgate Road in Chesterfield County left one driver dead and sent another to the hospital Thursday night, according to authorities. The collision happened in the 13000 block of the road, where a southbound Honda Accord and a northbound Ford F-250 pickup came together in what investigators describe as a crossing-the-center-line crash.
Police were called to the scene at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, according to WRIC, which reported that the Honda Accord was moving south when it crossed the center line and struck the F-250 traveling north. The driver of the Accord died at the scene, the station reported, and his identity is being withheld until authorities can reach his loved ones. A separate, earlier account from WTVR described one person suffering critical injuries in the crash, which it placed just after 6:30 p.m. in the same stretch of Harrowgate Road.
Accounts of the crash have varied on key details. The station's report identified the deceased Accord driver as a man, while the Progress-Index reported that a woman, who had not yet been identified, died at the scene. Hoodline could not independently reconcile these differing accounts of the victim's identity.
Second Driver Hospitalized With Non-Life-Threatening Injuries
The driver of the F-250 was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, per the same wric.com account. That driver's condition had not been further updated as of the latest reporting. The crash remains under investigation, according to 12 On Your Side, which confirmed one person dead and another injured in the collision.
Second Fatal Crash in Chesterfield Within a Day
The Harrowgate Road crash marked the second deadly crash Chesterfield County had seen within a day, the station's report noted. On Wednesday, Oct. 28, a two-vehicle crash on Spring Run Road left a 10-month-old girl dead and put three others, including her mother, in the hospital.
No further details on the cause of either crash or any potential charges have been released. Hoodline will continue to follow this developing story as additional information becomes available.
