Joesler Kitchen is recruiting for its planned late-November opening, with a hiring fair set for Sunday, Oct. 25, at 1825 E. River Road, Suite 119. The restaurant will occupy the former Choice Greens space on River Road.

Co-owners Jeff Katz and Paolo DeFilippis closed their Choice Greens location to develop the new concept, according to Tucson Foodie. The pair also operate Graze Premium Burgers and Truland Burgers & Greens. Katz described Joesler Kitchen to the outlet as a modern American restaurant serving elevated but approachable food.

Katz told Tucson Foodie that developing the restaurant took about a year, including six or seven months for the redesign. FORS architecture + interiors led the design, while Hidden Hollow Construction managed the build; both firms had worked with the owners on restaurant spaces for years, the outlet reported.

A Bigger Footprint With Room for Pets

Plans call for about 3,500 square feet and seating for roughly 110 guests across the dining room, bar and patio, Tucson Foodie reported. The bar is planned to offer indoor and outdoor seating, with beer, wine and cocktails; pets will be allowed on the patio. The name refers to the village and to architect Josias Joesler. Visit Tucson describes Joesler Village as a collection of shops and restaurants named for Joesler and reflecting Tucson’s regional architectural style.

Joesler’s mark on Tucson

Tucson.com reports that Josias Joesler and builder John Murphey were associated with nearly 400 buildings designed by Joesler and built by the Murphey-Keith Building Company. The outlet also notes that details in Joesler’s work, such as exposed adobe brick, breezeways and patios, later influenced Ranch home designs across Tucson.

The menu remains in development. Tucson Foodie reported that plans include appetizers, hand-helds, salads, entrées and desserts, with vegetarian and gluten-free choices. Entrées are expected to cost $22 to $35. Planned hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Hiring Fair Set for This Weekend

Organizers are seeking servers, back servers, bartenders, hosts and kitchen staff to build the team before the late-November opening.

Another Tucson restaurant space reuse

A separate example came in 2024, when Mantis Gourmet Chinese Food moved into a former Nico’s Taco Shop at 8295 N. Cortaro Road, Tucson.com reported. That restaurant and location are distinct from Joesler Kitchen.
