Chrisean Rock is defending herself after video showed her walking toward sheriff's deputies with their guns drawn while holding her toddler son, Chrisean Jr., during Blueface's arrest outside a Yard House restaurant in Valencia. The rapper said she was not willing to sit back and watch the standoff unfold from a distance, even with weapons pointed nearby.
What Happened Outside the Yard House
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded at approximately 7:43 p.m. on October 19 to a restaurant on the 24200 block of Magic Mountain Parkway in Valencia after a report of a man allegedly pointing a firearm, according to Complex. Deputies later determined the report was a swatting incident, the outlet reported. Several people, including Blueface, were detained when officers arrived, according to TMZ.
TMZ reported that video showed Blueface and friends, several wearing Halloween costumes, telling officers they had no weapons. Blueface was later arrested on suspicion of delaying or obstructing a peace officer investigation. The circumstances of that arrest have been described in media reports; this account does not cite a sheriff’s office record confirming them.
What the Footage Shows—and What Rock Says
Footage from the scene showed Rock approaching officers with their guns drawn while holding Chrisean Jr., according to The Shade Room. Rock said she would not stand back and watch, explaining: “I'm not going to sit and wait and watch that s**t happen.”
In an account by HotNewHipHop, Rock said she saw officers aim their guns at Blueface, took their son from his car seat and approached the officers. She described her actions as an effort to show that an innocent family was nearby and said her loyalty to Blueface and their family informed her decision.
Online Criticism and Blueface’s Response
The footage prompted criticism online, including accusations that Rock put her son between Blueface and the officers, according to The Shade Room. HotNewHipHop also reported that some viewers disputed that interpretation, saying the original parking-lot livestream does not clearly show Rock entering the officers’ line of fire while holding her son.
HotNewHipHop reported that Blueface criticized Rock’s decision, saying he would not carry their son into a standoff and condemning anyone who put a child in front of a gunfight. The outlet also reported that police and first responders had visited Blueface’s home earlier in the month, after Rock moved back in with their son.
Swatting and Its Potential Consequences
The FBI said it was aware of multiple recent swatting incidents and issued a public advisory explaining the tactic and how to report it. A separate Wichita case illustrates the potential danger of a hoax emergency report: KSN reported that on Dec. 28, 2017, officers went to Andrew Finch’s home after a reported murder and hostage situation, later identified as a hoax, and an officer shot and killed Finch.
In a separate case, the FBI’s advisory addressed the broader pattern of reported incidents. The Justice Department said Alan W. Filion, 18, of Lancaster, California, made more than 375 swatting and threat calls from approximately August 2022 to January 2024, targeting locations across the country; he was sentenced to 48 months in prison.
A Relationship Back in the Spotlight
Blueface and Rock had reunited earlier in October and have since gotten engaged, Complex reported. Their reconciliation and the chaotic scene outside the Valencia restaurant have thrust the on-again, off-again couple back into public scrutiny, with the swatting call, the arrest, and Rock's choice to approach armed officers with their child all compounding into the latest flashpoint in their relationship.
