Bull riders, bronc busters and barrel racers are saddling back up for Columbus. Cinch World's Toughest Rodeo is set to return to Nationwide Arena on January 16, 2027, bringing professional rodeo athletes competing in bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and other rodeo events to downtown Columbus for another winter showcase.

Tickets for the show go on sale Friday at 10 am, according to WSYX. Organizers said the event combines traditional rodeo events with fan-focused entertainment designed to deliver an unforgettable live experience, a description that fits a tour with roots stretching back decades.

This isn't the rodeo's first lap around the Arena District. The touring show held previous Columbus stops at Nationwide Arena on February 7, 2026, and February 15, 2025, according to Nationwide Arena, making it something of a recurring winter tradition for the venue rather than a one-off booking.

A Pro Circuit With Real Stakes for Cowboys

The competition isn't just for show. Riders can earn points and winnings on the tour, according to Sports Illustrated. Cowboys also compete to qualify for the National Finals Rodeo. That means there's more at stake than applause.

The bucking stock they're drawing is no small factor in those scores. Three Hills Rodeo horses have competed in Columbus, and the company provided a horse for a Raleigh event. Half of a rider's total score is based on the animal's own performance and difficulty.

The main event is structured as a tournament rather than a straight exhibition. Twelve contestants compete across roughstock events before the top riders advance to a winner-take-all Showdown Round, per the venue's own event listing. Alongside the men's roughstock riding, the card also features women's barrel racing.

Family Activities and Practical Details for Attendees

Beyond the competition itself, the show leans into family-friendly spectacle. The event includes a pre-show on the dirt with family-friendly activities, and those pre-show activities include pony rides, cowboy autographs and photo opportunities, fans are encouraged to arrive early to take part. The tour also incorporates specialty performers such as rodeo clown Justin Rumford and Whiplash the Cowboy Monkey to keep the energy up between heats.

Attendees should plan their wallets accordingly. Nationwide Arena operates as a completely cashless facility for food, beverages and merchandise, requiring credit, debit or mobile payments alongside on-site cash-to-card reverse ATM kiosks for anyone who shows up with only paper money.

Ticketing has modernized as well. As reported by WBNS 10TV, tickets are sold through Ticketmaster, which issues entry via dynamic, non-screenshot mobile SafeTix barcodes rather than traditional printed tickets. The tour has been running since 1979, and the show has a fast-paced arena format.
