A husband-and-wife team is opening a new boutique for local makers at Villagio Town Center in Cinco Ranch this Friday, giving Katy-area small businesses a fresh storefront just months after a national vendor chain collapsed. The Shoppes at Juniper Lane is set to debut Oct. 24, 2026, with a grand-opening event featuring shopping, food, drinks and giveaways.
Owners Christi and Jim Brzezicki confirmed the planned opening, according to Community Impact Newspaper. The boutique will sit at 22762 Westheimer Parkway, Suite B240, inside Villagio Town Center, a 112,000-square-foot upscale lifestyle center at Westheimer Parkway and South Peek Road, according to the Katy Economic Development Council. The Brzezickis describe the shop as an open-concept luxury boutique built around curated products from local vendors.
A Passion Project Years in the Making
The idea for Juniper Lane didn't start as a retail concept at all. Christi Brzezicki expanded her decorating work into a small staging and redesign business and also started a professional Christmas tree decorating business in 2021, and the couple began discussing opening a business together last year, per the same account. Along the way, they reportedly weighed options as varied as an RV park and a washateria before settling on the decorating-focused venture that would eventually become Juniper Lane.
Christi Brzezicki said the shop aims to give Katy a distinct shopping experience that supports local makers and small businesses, per the outlet's report. The boutique will provide space for local makers to sell home decor, gifts, apparel, jewelry, candles, handmade pieces, artisan finds and seasonal decor, she said. The venture has been described as a passion project for the couple.
Filling a Gap Left by a National Chain's Collapse
Juniper Lane's arrival comes as Katy-area shoppers look for new homes for vendor-based retail following the disappearance of Painted Tree Boutiques, which once operated more than 60 locations nationwide, including six in the Houston area, according to Covering Katy News. Painted Tree and its 64 subsidiaries filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on April 28, the outlet reported, leaving a cluster of local vendors without a storefront.
Juniper Lane isn't the only business stepping into that space. Nancy Wilden launched The Artisan Craft Boutique in summer 2025, the outlet noted, located at 119 FM 1463 across from Katy High School. That shop allows small-business owners to rent affordable spaces for handmade goods, jewelry, art, self-care items, decor and clothing, and it hosts monthly markets along with periodic crafting classes for the community.
What to Expect on Opening Day
Friday's grand-opening celebration is expected to include shopping, food, drinks and giveaways at the Villagio Town Center location, according to Community Impact. Beyond the opening-day festivities, the Brzezickis have framed the boutique as a long-term showcase for the kinds of handmade and curated goods that larger chains like Painted Tree once hosted under one roof. For now, Katy-area shoppers and makers alike have a new address to watch at Suite B240 on Westheimer Parkway.
