Plush flowers that never wilt, never need watering, and cost just $10 apiece are coming to Venice Beach. Artist CJ Hendry is bringing her Flower Shop pop-up to 6 Rose Avenue from November 8 through November 21, offering a two-week window for Angelenos to get their hands on the oversized, collectible blooms that have caused a stir everywhere from Sydney to Singapore.
According to WhatNow, the Venice pop-up will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during its run, and visitors will be able to collect and arrange the plush flowers into their own bouquets. Each flower is priced at $10, and the outlet reports that customers who buy nine will get a tenth one free — the same deal Hendry has used at prior pop-ups. The Venice lineup will also include flowers designed specifically for the location, part of a broader set of collectible designs tied to the event.
Who Is CJ Hendry?
Hendry is an Australian contemporary artist whose work turns everyday objects into hyperrealistic creations, as described by Rockefeller Center. Her Flower Shop concept grew out of a traveling Flower Market installation that has popped up in New York, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Sydney and Singapore, per Harper's BAZAAR Australia. Last November, Hendry opened her first permanent Flower Shop on Prince Street in SoHo, selling the same textile-and-foam flowers for $10 each — a move designboom described as the artist turning her popular temporary installation into a fixed retail space.
The concept has drawn enormous crowds wherever it lands. When the Flower Market came to New York in 2024, it drew such big crowds that it ended up being shut down by police, according to Yahoo Lifestyle Australia. The same report noted that organizers at the Sydney event had to regularly pause sales just to restock the shelves — a detail that hints at what Venice shoppers might encounter when new inventory arrives throughout the two-week run.
A Pattern of Sellouts and Long Lines
Venice won't be the first city to test its patience for plush flowers. The Sydney Flower Market at the Royal Botanic Gardens offered free entry and was expected to draw more than 35,000 visitors across its opening weekend alone, per Harper's BAZAAR Australia. In Singapore, the pop-up sold out entirely, with walk-in registration drawing an estimated 90-minute wait, according to a report from CNA.
New York has hosted its share of Hendry pop-ups beyond the SoHo storefront. A Flower Market at Rockefeller Center combined a public marketplace, performance and art installation while introducing 27 new plush flower designs, Rockefeller Center's own site notes, and a limited-edition 28th design was sold exclusively through Top of the Rock as an observation-deck add-on while supplies lasted. A separate Flower Shop pop-up at Grand Central Terminal ran from February 1 through February 15, open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the same $10-per-flower, tenth-one-free pricing that's headed to Venice, according to Time Out New York.
What to Expect at 6 Rose Avenue
For now, the known details are the dates, the hours, the price, and the location: 6 Rose Avenue in Venice, open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., November 8 through November 21, with flowers at $10 each and a free tenth for every nine purchased. Given the restocking pauses and police-involved crowd shutdown that have accompanied past installations, Venice visitors hoping to walk away with a bouquet may want to plan for lines.
