A 44-year-old Cleveland, N.C. man died early Saturday morning after his motorcycle ran off Winthrow Creek Road in rural Iredell County and overturned into a ditch. Timothy Wayne Pack was riding a 2013 Kawasaki Z1000 near Triplett Road when he lost control and went off the right side of the roadway, according to investigators.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol identified Pack as the victim, as reported by WSOC-TV. Troopers determined during their initial investigation that impairment was not suspected as a contributing factor in the wreck, according to WHKY. The crash occurred on Winthrow Creek Road in Iredell County.

Second Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Less Than a Day

Pack's death came just hours after another motorcyclist was killed elsewhere in the county. The station's report notes that Pack's wreck was the second deadly motorcycle collision in Iredell County within an 11-hour span, following a crash just before 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, near Statesville that killed 25-year-old Cornelius resident Curtis Warren.

That earlier crash unfolded very differently. It happened at Red Cedar Lane and Sullivan Farm Road when an 18-year-old Statesville driver turned left into the path of Warren's Harley-Davidson, according to WCNC. State troopers were submitting the case to the Iredell County District Attorney's Office for review, the outlet reported.

Pack's Single-Vehicle Crash

Pack's crash, by contrast, involved no other vehicle: his motorcycle ran off the road and overturned into a ditch.

A Rough Stretch for Iredell County Riders

In May, 57-year-old Statesville motorcyclist Michael Alan Gandy died on Whites Farm Road after an SUV crossed the center line into his lane, Hoodline previously reported.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating Pack's crash.

The cause of Pack's crash remains under investigation as the Highway Patrol works toward a final crash report.
