Cleveland is waking up to a chilly, cloudy Saturday, October 17, with temperatures near 48 degrees and a brisk north wind making it feel colder. A few early showers are possible, but skies should turn mostly sunny by afternoon as the high reaches about 54 degrees.
Rain chances may ease through the morning, while winds could remain brisk. The National Weather Service Cleveland office expects lake-effect showers to fade through the morning as drier air moves in.
Freeze Warning Arrives Overnight
The bigger weather concern comes after dark. A Freeze Warning is in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday, October 18, for Cleveland and much of Northeast Ohio, with some areas expected to fall as low as 30 degrees.
Cleveland’s point forecast calls for a mostly clear night with a low around 38, but temperatures can vary across the region, especially away from the lake. Residents should cover tender plants and protect any outdoor plumbing that could be damaged by freezing conditions.
Sunshine Takes Over Next Week
Sunday will be sunny and milder, with a high near 62 and a light south wind. Monday should reach 65, followed by a high near 68 Tuesday.
The extended forecast stays mainly dry, with clear or mostly clear nights and no meaningful rain chances expected through Friday. In other words, Cleveland’s weekend starts with a winter-like nudge before settling into a surprisingly pleasant stretch.
