A 20-year-old Columbus man will spend up to 28.5 years behind bars after admitting guilt in six separate felony cases, including two shootings, one of which left a victim paralyzed from the waist down. Jacob Driscoll pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a string of violent incidents across 2025, capped by a police pursuit that ended in a fiery crash on an Interstate 270 entrance ramp.
Officials said Driscoll was sentenced to 27 to 28.5 years in prison, according to 10TV. He pleaded guilty to two counts of felonious assault, aggravated robbery, failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, and two counts of unlawful possession of dangerous ordnance, the station reported.
A Drive-By That Left a Man Paralyzed
The most severe of the incidents occurred March 13, 2025, when a drive-by shooting struck an East Main Street residence, hitting a victim in the back. The victim was paralyzed from the waist down, per the same 10TV account. Investigators recovered 42 shell casings from the scene, underscoring the intensity of the gunfire that erupted that day.
Months later, on September 17, 2025, a second shooting struck a home on South Third Street while three people were inside. No one was hurt that time, though officials recovered 30 shell casings from the scene, the station's report noted. Between the two incidents, more than 70 shell casings were tied to Driscoll's case, even as the outcomes diverged sharply — paralysis in one, no injuries in the other.
A Chase That Ended on an I-270 Ramp
Driscoll's case also included a November 23, 2025, pursuit in Franklin Township that ended when he crashed on an Interstate 270 North entrance ramp. A stolen AR-style firearm was found inside the vehicle, the outlet reported. The crash and recovered weapon became part of the broader set of charges that led to his guilty plea.
Several of the incidents wrapped into Driscoll's case also involved other defendants whose cases remain pending, the report indicated. Those other proceedings have not been resolved, and their current status was not detailed.
A Conflicting Earlier Account
The sentencing account differs from an earlier report describing the same defendant. NBC4 had previously identified Driscoll as 21 years old and reported that he pleaded not guilty to all charges across six pending incidents totaling 27 felony charges. That earlier account and the newer sentencing report carry different ages and plea statuses for Driscoll, and neither source explains the discrepancy.
Echoes of a Similar Franklin County Case
Driscoll's sentence lands amid a string of lengthy prison terms handed down for young Columbus-area defendants tied to multiple shootings. Franklin County Prosecutor Shayla D. Favor announced a 25-year sentence for 20-year-old Kaden Ratcliff, according to ABC6. Ratcliff pleaded guilty in five felony cases tied to three drive-by shootings, a robbery, and possession of machine-gun conversion devices and automatic firearms, and under his plea deal he will serve 25 to 26 years behind bars.
