A motorcycle crossed into oncoming traffic on State Route 13 in Perry County Monday afternoon, killing its rider. The collision occurred in Pleasant Township, southeast of New Lexington, and left a second Corning resident uninjured, NBC4 WCMH-TV reported.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said John Fulk Jr., 59, was riding a 2006 Harley-Davidson northbound when it crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound 2015 Chevrolet Cruze. Fulk was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet; the driver of the Chevrolet reported no injuries. Troopers and the Perry County Sheriff's Office are investigating the crash.
Other fatal crashes on the route
The crash has a limited point of comparison with another fatal centerline collision on SR-13. WHIZ reported that on August 19, 2026, a 19-year-old Crooksville driver died after his Dodge Ram crossed the centerline and struck a Freightliner near State Route 757 in Reading Township. That was a separate crash, at a different location and involving different drivers and vehicles.
Another fatal crash was reported in Perry County. 10TV reported that a Perry County crash left a woman dead. These incidents provide context about other serious crashes on the highway, but their different circumstances and locations do not establish a pattern or explain what happened in Monday's collision.
The crash near New Lexington remains under investigation.
