Coupe's Corner, the cocktail lounge that built a following in downtown Greenville, is opening a second location at 787 E. Butler Road, Suite D, in Mauldin, bringing its “Welcome Home” hospitality to a new corner of Greenville County. The Mauldin spot comes with its own menu, its own drink list and an age policy aimed at an older crowd than the one that packs the original bar.
The expansion was first confirmed by greenvilleonline.com, which reported that Coupe's Corner was expanding beyond its downtown Greenville hotspot at 111 Augusta St. The business was created by owner Marius Soglo, according to that report, and carries the slogan “Welcome Home” across both locations. At the time of that report, the opening date for the Mauldin lounge had not yet been announced, though the new spot was already planned to feature a different menu, new drinks and a 30-and-up age requirement.
Coupe's Corner is co-owned by Marius Soglo and Ajay Gladney, per WYFF News 4. Soglo is originally from West Africa and moved to Greenville after passing through New York, the station reports. Gladney told WYFF the business is growing, has built systems, and takes business seriously, adding that the community supports the business, which depends on its people.
A Grand Opening With a DJ and Live Band
The Mauldin lounge is set to hold its grand opening Friday night at 787 E. Butler Road, Suite D, starting at 6 p.m., according to the station's report. The celebration is expected to feature a DJ and live band, and the owners are advising guests to arrive early because large crowds are anticipated.
Coupe's Corner has its original location in Greenville's West End, where the lounge was named for its spot on a corner — a nod reinforced by the business's name, a reference to the champagne coupe, a shallow, stemmed glass first used for champagne in France. As it prepares to open its Mauldin location, Coupe's Corner is expanding to two locations across Greenville County.
Signature Cocktails and a Quieter VIP Room
Bartender Haley Stewart crafted a Key Lime Pie Martini with a graham cracker rim for the new menu, describing it as a dessert in a glass. The Mauldin lounge offers seven signature drinks in total, including the Midnight Affair, Passion After Dark, The Perfect Gentleman, Ohhhh Henny, Summer Fantasy and Peach Please, each priced at $15, per the station's report.
Manager Kay Skelton oversees the new location, which also includes a VIP room called the Corner Suite. Skelton described the room as quieter, more secluded and more relaxed while still letting guests enjoy the lounge. The Corner Suite is first come, first served for now, but it's set to become membership-only in 2027.
Who Can Get In, and What to Wear
The Mauldin location is built around an older crowd than the downtown bar, requiring guests to be at least 25 years old, and raising that threshold to 30 after 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The dress code calls for chic, stylish attire, with hats required to be worn facing front and baggy sweatpants not allowed. Cigars, vapes and pipes are also prohibited, and anyone already banned from one Coupe's Corner location is banned from both, the station reports.
Regular hours at the lounge run 6 p.m. to midnight on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The downtown location's weekly programming includes Wine & R&B Wednesdays and Caribbean Nights every Thursday, featuring Caribbean-inspired music, cocktails and dinner specials, according to Coupe's Corner's event listings. Live music returns every Friday, with performances beginning at 8:30 p.m.
From Oxtail Grilled Cheese to a New Rice Bowl
Coupe's Corner has built its food menu around dishes like the oxtail grilled cheese, a charcuterie board, loaded nachos, hummus, spinach dip, sourdough paninis, shrimp and beef tacos, and sweet potato pie, according to the station's report. The restaurant is also introducing a rice bowl made with white rice, seasoned beef, black beans, vegetables and a house secret sauce, which can be topped with jerk chicken. Greenvilleonline.com separately reported that the menu includes bourbon teriyaki sweet chili salmon as well.
The downtown bar has also drawn political attention. U.S. Senate candidate Raphael Warnock held a campaign stop at Coupe's Corner's downtown location, according to the station's report, ahead of the 2026 midterm elections scheduled for Nov. 3. Gladney said the team had about 24 hours to prepare for the visit. He noted that Coupe's Corner regularly hosts entertainers, athletes and politicians brought in by community members.
A reviewer on sagemenu.com described the downtown Greenville location as having a great vibe and being Black-owned. The Mauldin expansion adds Coupe's Corner to a growing lineup of Greenville-area nightlife spots rooted in the community, alongside venues like Wakanda Lounge, which serves West African and Jamaican dishes alongside cocktails and live music.
