A 58-year-old Crafton man has been missing since Tuesday morning after leaving behind his wallet, cell phone, credit cards, and an apology note that worried his sister enough to call police. Crafton Borough Police are now running an active, multi-agency search for Edward Skeva across Crafton and neighboring Ingram, using drones, K-9 units, and trained search teams.
According to WPXI, Skeva was reported missing on Tuesday, and police have been combing both boroughs since. Per reporting from TribLIVE, Skeva is 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighs between 225 and 230 pounds, and has gray hair. He was last seen around 8:30 a.m. that day leaving his residence at 66 Bradford Avenue in Crafton Borough, where he lives with his sister.
The note he left behind is what transformed this from a routine missing-person report into an urgent search. TribLIVE reported that Skeva left his wallet, phone, credit cards, and an apology note telling his sister he might not be in a good mindset, following recent financial difficulties. Those details, combined with the fact that he left his phone behind, have driven the scale of the response.
No Car, No Trail to Follow
Complicating the search is the fact that Skeva does not own a vehicle, according to the same TribLIVE report, leaving investigators without a vehicle description, a travel direction, or any known destination. That gap has pushed searchers to focus on footpaths, bus routes, and pedestrian corridors near his home rather than roadways.
In a public notice, the Crafton Borough Police Department asked local property owners to review Ring doorbells, home security footage, and bus video, and to check nearby pedestrian areas across Allegheny County, urging anyone who spots Skeva to call 911 immediately. A Crafton Borough Police Department spokesperson said the department appreciates public cooperation so that search members can access areas of concern or locations needing checks without issue, per WPXI.
Officers conducting the search are wearing blue shirts labeled “search,” and police shared a public message explaining the visible increase in activity so residents would not be alarmed by the presence of search teams, WPXI reported. Anyone with information on Skeva's whereabouts is asked to call the Crafton Borough Police Department at 412-921-2016.
A Fourplex on a Quiet Crafton Street
The home Skeva left behind, at 66 Bradford Avenue, is a multi-family fourplex brick building constructed in 1925, located within walking distance of local bus connections, according to real estate records from Zillow. Bradford Avenue sits in central Crafton, a borough that, along with neighboring Ingram, lies roughly six miles west of Downtown Pittsburgh, according to Allegheny County geographic profiles. The two small boroughs share contiguous borders, roadways, and commercial areas, which helps explain why the search has spread beyond Crafton's own limits.
How Pennsylvania Handles Endangered Adult Searches
Missing adult cases where law enforcement believes a person may be in physical danger can trigger Pennsylvania's Missing Endangered Person Advisory System, a statewide alert tool established in 2010 under Senate Bill 976 to notify the public when child-abduction AMBER Alert criteria are not met. Suburban police departments in Allegheny County routinely coordinate with regional search assets and county emergency services when deploying trained K-9 units and aerial drones across municipal lines, reflecting how small borough forces like Crafton's lean on shared county resources during intensive searches.
Pennsylvania currently maintains more than 500 open missing-persons cases among the more than 25,000 active cases tracked nationwide by the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System as of August 2026. The search for Skeva follows other recent Allegheny County cases that drew similar police responses, including Verona's search for missing man Steven Jones last month and the discovery of a missing 60-year-old man's body in Penn Hills woods earlier this month.
