A crash near Charlotte Douglas International Airport left one person seriously hurt early Saturday morning, according to medics. The wreck happened before 5:50 a.m. on Interstate 485 near Exit 6, snarling part of the highway during the predawn hours.
Medics said the injured person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, according to WBTV. As of the station's report, police had not released details about what led to the crash, leaving the circumstances surrounding the collision unclear for now.
What We Still Don't Know
No information has emerged yet about how many vehicles were involved, whether lanes were closed, or what road conditions looked like at the time of the crash. Police have not identified the person who was hurt, and there is no word yet on that person's current condition or which hospital they were taken to.

A Familiar Stretch of Highway
This isn't the first time that stretch of I-485 near Exit 6 has made headlines for a serious crash. Back in May, Hoodline reported on a dramatic rollover crash captured on dashcam near Exit 6 on the I-485 outer loop by West Boulevard in west Charlotte, in a piece headlined wild dashcam rollover. That crash also left at least one person seriously injured, and detectives said at the time they were reviewing dashcam footage to help reconstruct what happened and determine whether charges would be filed. There is no evidence confirming whether that earlier rollover and Saturday's crash are connected in any way, and nothing in the available reporting ties the two incidents together beyond their shared location along the same corridor.
For now, the details of Saturday's crash remain limited to what medics and police have confirmed: one person seriously hurt, a highway shut down before sunrise, and a cause still under wraps. Hoodline will update this story as more information becomes available.
