A new Crunch Fitness is on its way to Kingwood, with construction on the roughly 36,800-square-foot project expected to begin this week at 4303 Kingwood Drive, Suite 200, near Sprouts. The privately funded build carries an estimated cost of $1.2 million, and crews are slated to break ground Saturday, October 10, 2026.
Per a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing cited by Community Impact, the project is expected to wrap up in late March, though the filing does not include a projected opening date. The outlet's report, authored by Wesley Gardner, says the Kingwood project consists of an interior remodel rather than new construction.
Community Impact reports that the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing describes the Kingwood project as an interior remodel, not a ground-up building.
What the Gym Chain Typically Offers
Crunch Fitness markets its locations around group fitness classes, strength and cardio equipment, yoga studios, spin studios and other fitness services, according to the chain's own website. Crunch also offers a range of additional amenities.
It's worth noting the Kingwood project isn't the Lake Houston area's first brush with the brand. A Crunch Fitness location opened in nearby Humble by March 2025, according to Community Impact's earlier coverage, and that location opened as a 24/7 gym. The Humble club was billed at the time as the second Crunch Fitness 3.0 Model location in the country and the first in Texas, featuring an infrared sauna, a hot studio for hot yoga and hot Pilates, and a boxing ring, with membership options ranging from $9.99 to $29.99 per month.
Timeline Still Taking Shape
The Humble club's own path to opening offers a reminder that fitness-center build-outs don't always move on a fixed clock — that project was projected to begin construction in September 2024 with a wrap-up expected the following January, and an opening date wasn't available at the time either, per Community Impact's earlier reporting. Whether the Kingwood remodel follows a similarly fluid schedule remains to be seen.
For now, the known specifics are the address, the roughly 36,800-square-foot footprint, the $1.2 million price tag, and the October 10 start date tied to the registered TDLR filing. Community Impact has said it will update the story as more information becomes available.
