A 79-year-old Crystal River man who went missing from his home has been found safe, Citrus County deputies announced early Saturday morning. Roy Leonard Glass had last been seen at his residence before authorities launched a search for him under a Silver Alert.

Search Launched After Glass Vanished From Crystal River Home

According to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, deputies searched for Glass after he was last seen at his residence in Crystal River. In its original alert, titled “Silver Alert - Roy Glass - Crystal River,” the agency described Glass as wearing a navy blue golf shirt, dark blue jeans and brown dress shoes when he went missing.

The sheriff's office asked anyone with information to call 352-249-2790 and shared the post with the hashtag #SilverAlert, a designation used by Florida authorities to help locate missing seniors believed to be at risk. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement oversees the statewide Silver Alert system, which can be activated when an elderly or cognitively impaired person goes missing under circumstances that raise concern for their safety.

Alert Canceled After Glass Located Safely

Early Saturday, the sheriff's office posted an update canceling the alert, reporting simply that Roy Glass was found safe. The agency did not release additional details in its post about where or when he was located, or whether he received any medical evaluation following the search.

Residents looking for real-time information on active Silver Alerts statewide can also check the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's alert tracker, which lists ongoing searches across the state as they are issued and resolved.
