Culver's wants to plant its butter burgers and frozen custard right across from Austin Landing. A proposal calls for a 4,550-square-foot Culver's restaurant with a drive-thru to fill the third lot at Austin Crossing, the commercial development taking shape in Miami Township, and the township's zoning commission is set to weigh in on Nov. 10.
The Miami Township Zoning Commission meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. that evening, according to WDTN. If the plan moves forward as outlined, the applicant intends to begin construction around Feb. 1, 2027, and finish by July 2, 2027, per those same filings.
The proposed restaurant would land in good company. Austin Crossing already counts Chick-fil-A, 7 Brew, Dutch Bros, Chase Bank and Flying Ace Car Wash among its lineup, the station's report notes, with the Culver's slated to join the third lot in that growing commercial strip.
More Drive-Thrus and a Bank on the Way
Culver's wouldn't be the only newcomer angling for a spot at Austin Crossing. Chase Bank has proposed a 4,862-square-foot branch with 42 parking spaces, including two accessible stalls, plus drive-thru lanes, according to a separate WDTN report. Dutch Bros, meanwhile, is eyeing a second Miami Township location there, with plans listing a 950-square-foot shop, while Flying Ace has floated a 4,725-square-foot car wash that could include 20 vacuum parking spaces and three standard stalls.
The broader Austin Crossing project also includes infrastructure improvements funded through a public-private partnership, as reported by Cincinnati Business Courier. That outlet describes the development as designed to complement Austin Landing by capturing different types of commercial growth rather than duplicating what's already there.
Culver's Keeps Expanding Across the Dayton Region
This isn't an isolated bet for the Wisconsin-based chain. Culver's is continuing its expansion efforts across the Dayton region, the station notes, with the nearest existing location to the proposed Austin Crossing site sitting in West Carrollton.
That West Carrollton restaurant opened as part of a new river corridor development, where city officials have said they hope to eventually attract a hotel, additional fast-casual and retail businesses, townhouses and full-service restaurants, according to WHIO. Culver's is also under development in Sugarcreek Township, where it's proposed for the former Popeyes location at 6242 Wilmington Pike near Miami Valley Hospital South, as reported by the Dayton Daily News.
WDTN's original report on the Austin Crossing proposal also notes that another Culver's may be coming to Kettering. A separate WDTN report identifies a Culver's operator seeking to rezone the former Frisch's Big Boy site at 2861 Wilmington Pike, though that account does not confirm whether the Kettering application has advanced.
For now, the Austin Crossing proposal heads to the Miami Township Zoning Commission for consideration, with the fate of Culver's third lot — and its place alongside Chick-fil-A, 7 Brew and the rest of the development — resting on that Nov. 10 vote.
