Culver's is giving Milwaukee Brewers fans another reason to celebrate this weekend, unveiling a limited-time frozen custard flavor called Brew Crew Cheesecake at its Milwaukee-area restaurants. The flavor swirls cheesecake and blueberries into vanilla custard, recreating the Brewers' signature blue and gold colors just as the team opens its National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres.
The custard will be available Saturday and Sunday as the Brewers host Games 1 and 2 of the NLDS, according to WISN. If the series stretches to a decisive Game 5, Culver's says it will bring the flavor back on Friday, Oct. 9, timed to a potential return trip to Milwaukee. That scheduling lines up with the full playoff framework reported by NBC Sports, which has Games 1 and 2 in Milwaukee, Games 3 and 4 in San Diego, and a conditional Game 5 back at American Family Field.
A Franchise-Record Season Fuels the Buzz
The timing isn't random. The Brewers closed out the 2026 regular season with a franchise-best 103-59 record, claiming their fourth straight NL Central title and the top overall seed in the postseason, according to MLB.com reporting cited in Hoodline's earlier coverage of the Brewers' postseason push. That 103-win campaign also earned Milwaukee a first-round bye straight into the NLDS.
This also marks uncharted territory for both franchises. The 2026 NLDS is the first-ever postseason series matchup between the Brewers and Padres, per MLB.com, even though both teams entered the league in the same 1969 expansion class. Neither club has won a World Series since joining MLB that year, adding extra weight to the series for fans on both coasts.
Not Culver's First Scoop With the Brewers
Brew Crew Cheesecake isn't Culver's first collaboration with the ballclub. The chain already runs an official marketing tie-in with the Brewers called Strikeouts for Custard, which hands Delicious Rewards members a free scoop whenever a Milwaukee pitcher strikes out a batter in the top of the third inning during home games at American Family Field, per MLB.com's partner perks page. The new postseason flavor builds directly on that existing sponsorship relationship.
Culver's operational structure makes quick regional rollouts like this possible. The chain's Flavor of the Day program lets individual franchise owners across 26 states pick and rotate custom flavors based on local demand, according to Food Republic. That decentralized system is how a Milwaukee-specific, team-colored custard can appear on local menus without a chainwide overhaul.
What Actually Makes It Custard
There's a technical reason Culver's product has that denser, richer mouthfeel compared to a typical scoop of ice cream. Under Food and Drug Administration standards codified at 21 CFR 135.110, frozen custard must contain at least 10 percent milkfat and a minimum of 1.4 percent egg yolk solids by weight, according to the eCFR. Standard ice cream, by contrast, contains less than 1.4 percent egg yolk solids, which is why custard carries its signature creaminess.
The release also fits inside a broader 2026 culinary push for the Wisconsin-based chain. In February, Culver's announced plans for the year that included four new pub burgers, pumpkin fall desserts, and two new Flavors of the Day inspired by Midwest supper club traditions, according to a company release. Culver's was founded on July 18, 1984, in Sauk City, Wisconsin, and still runs its corporate headquarters in nearby Prairie du Sac, per Wikipedia.
A Chain on the Rise, Inside and Outside Wisconsin
The custard promotion also lands amid strong financial momentum for the company. Culver's surpassed $4 million in average unit sales volume in 2025, a 9.2 percent jump over 2024, while expanding to 1,041 total locations nationwide, according to Restaurant Business Magazine. The vast majority of those locations are franchisee-owned, a structure that also underpins the chain's recent growth push in markets like Northeast Florida, where Hoodline has reported on a planned 12th Jacksonville-area location.
Back in Milwaukee, the custard launch adds to a stadium food scene that's been leaning harder into local flavor all season. American Family Field expanded its 2026 concessions lineup with vendors like Bebe Zito ice cream, Drip Chocolate desserts, and K&L's BBQ added to hubs such as The Annex and The Alley, according to Urban Milwaukee. Whether Culver's sees enough demand to extend the promotion further, or introduces another flavor should the Brewers advance to the NLCS, remains to be seen as the series gets underway this weekend.
