A 28-year-old Cuyahoga County man is facing felony charges after allegedly threatening to shoot up a Warren McDonald's over a $40 demand, then breaking into a nearby car and smashing through a Dollar General's glass door, all within the same overnight stretch. Kevin Hawk was arrested following the Oct. 8 incident, which police say began with a drive-thru confrontation just after 1 a.m.

Officers were called to the McDonald's on Parkman Road just after 1 a.m. that Thursday for a man in the drive-thru making threats, according to WFMJ. Police say Hawk came up to the window carrying a fire extinguisher and demanded $40, threatening to shoot up the store if he didn't get it. An employee told officers Hawk was holding something inside his hoodie to simulate a gun.

Fire Extinguisher Used as a Weapon in the Drive-Thru

According to the station's report, Hawk then lunged through the drive-thru window with the fire extinguisher, trying to wedge it inside, but McDonald's employees managed to wrestle it away from him. From there, the account describes Hawk's alleged path spilling into the surrounding business strip, where a parked car and a nearby retailer also became targets.

Police reports allege Hawk broke into a car parked at the nearby Aldi, smashing the window out with cement bricks and stealing a wallet from inside, per the same account. Officers later found that same wallet in the pocket of Hawk's hoodie, the outlet reports.

Dollar General Door Smashed for a Second Fire Extinguisher

Police also say Hawk broke the glass door of a nearby Dollar General and took a fire extinguisher from inside the store, according to the report cited by WFMJ. The string of alleged incidents in a single early-morning window around Parkman Road left Hawk facing a lengthy list of charges once the case moved to court.

Court records show Hawk is charged with several felonies, including aggravated robbery and vandalism, as well as misdemeanor counts of theft, petty theft, criminal damaging, trespassing into a vehicle, disorderly conduct and an open-container violation, the station notes. Under Ohio law, a violation of Section 2911.01 of the Ohio Revised Code constitutes aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, while robbery under Section 2911.02 can be charged as a second- or third-degree felony depending on the specific violation.

Hawk is due back in court on Oct. 13 for a preliminary hearing, per WFMJ's reporting.

A Separate Account of an Early-Wednesday Robbery

A separate report from WKBN describes police investigating a robbery elsewhere early Wednesday morning, with an employee saying the suspect demanded cash from the drawer and told her not to say anything. That account also states the suspect claimed to have a gun, though the employee was unsure whether he actually had one, and that he fled with cash into a silver car near South Street and Chestnut Avenue. The account describes a different robbery from the Thursday incident at the Parkman Road McDonald's covered by WFMJ.
