A reported theft at the H-E-B in the 28500 block of Northwest Freeway in Cypress involved merchandise valued at $1,175.28, according to Harris County Constable Precinct 4.

What Happened Inside the Store

According to Constable Mark Herman's office, the case concerns a reported theft at the H-E-B store.

Herman said anyone with information about the case, which is listed under case number HC 2610-01420, should contact dispatch or their local law enforcement agency.

A Familiar Store for Theft Cases

This is not the first theft investigation to hit the Fairfield Market location. The same store was the site of a July 2025 brisket theft, according to FOX 26 Houston. The broader Northwest Freeway corridor has also seen organized theft activity before: in November 2023, Precinct 4 deputies recovered more than 40 packages of stolen meat valued at $1,129 during a traffic stop after items were taken from four area supermarkets, including a Cypress H-E-B, the Houston Chronicle reported at the time.

Under Texas Penal Code § 31.03, theft of merchandise valued between $750 and $2,500 is classified as a Class A misdemeanor, carrying penalties of up to one year in county jail and fines of up to $4,000, per the Beltz Law Group. However, the same statute allows that charge to be enhanced to a state jail felony, punishable by 180 days to two years in state jail, if the suspect has two or more prior theft convictions of any grade, according to the Law Office of David D. White, PLLC.

Harris County Constable Precinct 4, led by Constable Mark Herman, bills itself as the largest constable's office in the United States, serving more than 1.1 million residents across 520 square miles of North Harris County. The office also has a C4 NOW mobile app.

As with all suspects named or described in connection with an open investigation, the woman sought in this case is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. No arrest has been announced.
