Dallas is starting Thursday with clouds and widespread precipitation in the forecast. Showers and thunderstorms are expected through much of the day, with a high near 82 and a serious risk of heavy rain and flooding. The main storm concerns continue into Friday morning.
Heavy Rain Puts Dallas Under Flood Watch
Thursday carries a 90% chance of rain, with showers and thunderstorms expected before 4 p.m. and additional activity possible later. Slow-moving storms could bring heavy rain in some spots.
A Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday morning for Dallas and much of North and Central Texas. The National Weather Service says widespread rainfall of 2 to 4 inches is possible across the watch area, with isolated totals near 6 inches. That could flood creeks, streams, low-lying roads and low-water crossings, so drivers should never attempt to cross standing water.
More Storms Arrive Before The Weekend Finally Dries Out
Thursday night will stay unsettled, with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms and a low near 71. Another round of storms is likely Friday, when temperatures should reach about 80 degrees and winds turn north behind a cold front.
Rain chances remain high Saturday, with a forecast high near 78, before easing Sunday morning. A few strong to severe storms are possible Wednesday afternoon and early evening, September 30, particularly along and west of US-281, though flooding is expected to be the bigger threat overall.
The Weekend Gradually Improves
The weekend should gradually improve, with only a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday and partly sunny skies.
