Part of a Series of Early-Morning Shootings Across Dallas
The McGregor Street shooting is one of several early-morning shootings reported around Dallas in recent months. In a separate incident, two people were shot around 6:30 a.m. in the 7600 block of South Central Expressway, according to NBC 5. Dallas Fire-Rescue took one of those victims to the hospital in critical condition, while the other victim made it to care in stable condition via private vehicle, the station reported.
In another separate case, a Dallas man was shot four times while walking his dog in the Pleasant Grove area, according to the Dallas Express. That outlet identified the victim as Joshua Painter, who suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, and reported that police arrested 18-year-old David Gabriel Ramirez in connection with the attack. It is not known whether that case is connected in any way to the McGregor Street shooting.
Citywide Context on Violent Crime
The shootings come as Dallas has reported a broader decline in violent crime. A report from Dallas News indicated that reports of violent crime in the city fell 12% overall in 2025 compared with the prior year, marking what the outlet described as a fifth straight annual drop. Even so, Tuesday's shooting underscores that gun violence remains a persistent concern for Dallas neighborhoods. Anyone with information on the McGregor Street shooting is encouraged to contact Dallas Police as the investigation continues.
