A Washington, D.C. man was back behind bars just six weeks after finishing a prison sentence for illegally carrying a loaded handgun, after police caught him with another loaded Glock while illegally parked near Logan Circle with two other armed men. Judge Kelly sentenced 29-year-old Sequan Collier to 29 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon.
According to the Department of Justice, Kelly imposed the sentence following Collier's guilty plea entered in June, in a case prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kate Naseef. As reported by Daily Voice, officers approached a black Audi A6 parked in a marked no-parking zone in Logan Circle, where Collier was found sitting in the driver's seat.
Officers recovered a Glock Model 29 10mm handgun from Collier's waistband, loaded with 14 rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber, Daily Voice reports. Collier had three prior felony convictions in D.C. Superior Court and was on supervised release for a 2023 firearms offense at the time of the stop, according to the outlet. During that 2023 arrest, police had also recovered a loaded Glock from Collier's pants, and he served 22 months in prison for that conviction before his release just six weeks before this latest arrest.
Other Developments
Naseer Green, 19, pleaded guilty to drug-trafficking and firearm offenses and was sentenced to 71 months in federal prison.
Wesley Hilliard was also a co-defendant. The stop involved Collier, who had a felony history, and two other armed men.
A Pattern Stretching Back to 2023
A Pattern Stretching Back to 2023 During an earlier arrest, police recovered another loaded Glock from Collier's pants. Collier served 22 months in prison for that conviction before his release six weeks before the Logan Circle stop.
Federal prosecution for unlawful firearm possession by a felon under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1) carries a statutory maximum of up to 15 years in prison under 18 U.S.C. § 924(a)(8), per LandL Law Group. Collier received a 29-month sentence, while Green received a 71-month term in a case involving drugs and an automatic conversion device.
Part of a Larger Federal Push in the District
Collier's prosecution was adopted under the federal Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful initiative, a joint law enforcement effort that has reported more than 16,000 arrests and the seizure of over 2,000 illegal firearms across the District as of Thursday, August 6, 2026, according to Hoodline's prior reporting. The initiative has routinely funneled local traffic stops involving repeat firearm offenders into federal court, where sentencing exposure is often steeper than in D.C. Superior Court.
The scale of the problem is reflected in citywide numbers: law enforcement agencies recovered and traced 3,106 crime guns in Washington, D.C. in 2023, with roughly half of those purchased less than three years before recovery.
Collier's case echoes other recent federal firearm prosecutions in the District tied to the same initiative, including a washing machine gun case and a Bowie man sentenced to 33 months for a loaded Glock found near U Street. Each case has involved felons caught with illegal firearms in D.C. neighborhoods, underscoring how quickly repeat offenders have faced federal charges under the ongoing crackdown.
