A fire tore through a mobile home in unincorporated Desert Hot Springs on Tuesday afternoon, sending one man to the hospital for smoke inhalation before crews knocked the flames down in under half an hour. The blaze broke out in the 18500 block of Roberts Road and left the Red Cross stepping in to help the displaced resident.

The fire was reported shortly before 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to mynewsla.com, which reported that arriving crews encountered light smoke coming from the residence. The structure involved was a double-wide mobile home, and firefighters had the fire contained by 3:16 p.m. the same afternoon, per the same account. No firefighters were injured battling the blaze, according to seed reporting from KESQ.

One person was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation, the report notes, and the Red Cross was requested at the scene to assist an adult man. The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of Tuesday, with no additional details released on how the blaze started.

A Neighborhood With a History of Mobile Home Fires

Tuesday's fire is the latest in a string of mobile home blazes that have hit Desert Hot Springs in recent years. Back in July 2026, a fire in the same community destroyed one mobile home and damaged two others, according to KESQ's earlier coverage, which found that flames had spread from one unit to two additional double-wide trailers before firefighters contained it. One civilian from that incident was treated and transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

The most devastating recent fire struck Country Squire RV and Mobile Home Park on July 18, 2023, when nine mobile homes and a dozen vehicles were destroyed and 59 other homes were damaged, leaving several families displaced, as reported by The Desert Sun. That fire was contained by 4:15 p.m. and was classified as a non-injury blaze, the newspaper reported.

Electrical Issues Have Also Plagued Local Parks

Fire has not been the only hazard for Desert Hot Springs mobile home communities. In 2020, a fire erupted in breaker panels behind the clubhouse and pool at Mountain View Mobile Home Park, cutting power to 110 mobile home spaces and leaving hundreds of residents without electricity, according to KESQ's reporting at the time. Cal Fire said the panels were aging and were likely the cause of that fire.

It remains unclear whether aging infrastructure played any role in Tuesday's fire on Roberts Road, and investigators have not released further findings. The hospitalized man's condition and identity have not been disclosed. News Channel 3 said it will provide updates as new developments emerge.
