Detroit is waking up to clear skies and temperatures near 46 degrees Friday, but the day will warm quickly under mostly sunny conditions. The afternoon high should reach about 70 degrees, with a light west-southwest breeze keeping things comfortable rather than blustery. It is a classic fall setup, at least until the weekend starts changing the script.
Friday Stays Sunny Before A Brief Shower Chance
Temperatures should climb through the 50s during the morning and reach the upper 60s by early afternoon, with winds generally between 3 and 7 mph. Friday night will be partly cloudy, with a slight chance of rain showers between 10 and 11 p.m. and a low near 56 degrees.
The latest outlook is a modest update to the forecast covered by Hoodline Thursday, particularly with rain becoming more likely as Sunday approaches. The National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac forecast shows no watches, warnings or advisories for the area.
Saturday Brings The Weekend Warmup
Saturday will be the warmest day of the weekend, with partly sunny skies and a high near 75 degrees. South-southeast winds will run 6 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 18 mph, so outdoor plans should be pleasant but a little breezier than Friday.
Clouds will increase Saturday night, and rain is likely after about 2 a.m. Sunday. The forecast calls for a low near 58 degrees, with rainfall totals potentially reaching between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.
Rain Takes Over Sunday Before A Mild Holiday Monday
Sunday looks like the wettest day in the near-term forecast, with a 90% chance of rain, cloudy skies and a high near 67 degrees. A slight chance of lingering rain remains Sunday evening before conditions turn mostly cloudy overnight.
Columbus Day should bring a reset, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 74 degrees. Another chance of rain, along with a slight chance of thunderstorms, returns late Monday night and Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
