Detroit woke Saturday to cloudy skies and temperatures around 59 degrees, but the gray start is setting up a warm afternoon. The forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a high near 74, with southeast winds of 6 to 10 mph and gusts up to 20 mph.
Warm Saturday, Wet Sunday
Saturday night stays mostly cloudy, with rain chances rising after 3 a.m. Sunday. Sunday is shaping up to be the weekend’s wetter day, with rain expected before 3 p.m., an 80% chance of precipitation and rainfall totals between a quarter-inch and half-inch.
The updated outlook is wetter than Hoodline’s earlier Detroit forecast, which had Sunday closer to light rain and a high near 69. The latest forecast from the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac puts the heaviest shower chances southeast of the city, with rain tapering off by Sunday evening.
Monday Brings One More Warm Break
Columbus Day looks like a rebound, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 77. That warm spell will not last long: rain and a slight chance of thunderstorms return Monday night into Tuesday as a front moves through.
By Wednesday, Detroit is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high near 65, while overnight lows settle into the upper 40s. Boaters heading onto Lake Huron should also note a Small Craft Advisory running through early Sunday, with southeast gusts potentially reaching 20 to 25 knots and locally higher.
