Dickson City police are asking for the public’s help identifying two men suspected of using stolen credit cards to buy more than $2,400 worth of merchandise at a local Lowe’s. Investigators say the men loaded their haul into a vehicle registered to a woman from the Wilkes-Barre area before leaving the store.

According to fox56.com, the fraudulent purchases took place at the Lowe’s on Viewmont Drive, and the men used stolen credit cards to pay for the goods before driving off with them. The outlet reports the vehicle used to haul the merchandise away has also turned up in and around Wilkes-Barre, according to Wilkes-Barre Township police. As Newport Dispatch notes, Dickson City police have released images of the two unidentified men believed to be involved in the transactions as they continue working to identify them.

Detective Leading the Investigation Wants Tips

Detective Wilson is heading up the case for the Dickson City Police Department and is asking anyone with information about the men, the vehicle, or the purchases to come forward. Tipsters can reach Wilson at 570-489-3231, extension 2067, and should reference incident number 2026-9017 when calling, per the same account from fox56.com.

The department’s outreach follows its broader pattern of turning to the public for help cracking cases, something reflected in the department’s active presence on Facebook, where it has built a following of more than 38,000 people tracking local public-safety updates.

Part of a Wider Pattern of Card Fraud in the Region

This isn’t the only stolen-card case to surface recently in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties. Pennsylvania State Police previously charged Nasier Robinson and Gregory Tyrone Clifford in a separate case involving vehicles ransacked across multiple municipalities, which included seven counts of access device fraud, according to the Times Leader. Court records in that case allege the men used stolen bank cards at Target stores in both Dickson City and Wilkes-Barre Township, with some of the purchases including Nintendo Switch consoles, the paper reported.

It’s not clear whether that case is connected to the Lowe’s fraud; the Lowe’s purchases took place at one Dickson City store, while the separate case involved Target purchases in Dickson City and Wilkes-Barre Township. Nationally, credit cards remain the payment method most frequently identified in fraud reports, according to the Federal Trade Commission’s 2024 Consumer Sentinel Network Data Book, which also found the median loss across all fraud reports that year was $497.

For now, Dickson City investigators are focused on identifying the two men caught on camera and tracing the vehicle linked to the Wilkes-Barre area. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Wilson so the department can move the case forward.
