Las Vegas police shut down the intersection of Fremont Street and Eastern Avenue on Friday after officers responded to a reported shooting near downtown, detaining three people as they worked to determine whether anyone had actually been hurt. So far, police say no victims have been found.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the area of Fremont Street and Eastern Avenue following the report, according to KSNV. Three people were detained in connection with the incident, and the station reports that the reported shooting has not injured anyone. The intersection remained closed while police continued investigating.
Pattern of Shooting Reports Near the Same Corridor
This is not the first time officers have been pulled to this stretch of downtown over gunfire reports. A year earlier, on October 29, 2025, officers responding to suspected gunshots near Eastern Avenue and Fremont Street arrived at a motel in the 2100 block of Fremont Street and found a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. She was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Police described that case as an ongoing investigation and said the Clark County Coroner's Office would release her identification along with the cause and manner of death.
Separately, a different downtown shooting-report incident unfolded earlier this month near South 3rd Street and East Bonneville Avenue. Officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting, according to fox5vegas.com, which reported that one man was detained in connection with that incident and that no gunshot victims had been located. Police described that investigation as ongoing as well. It is not established whether that earlier incident is connected to Friday's report at Fremont and Eastern.
Other Recent Downtown Shootings
Downtown Las Vegas has seen other shootings in recent months. On September 11, one person was shot shortly after noon near the Fremont Street Experience, as reported by the Las Vegas Sun. That victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the shooter remained at large, according to a Metro Police news release cited by the outlet.
The area's violence has drawn broader scrutiny. Metro Police investigated 71 homicides across its jurisdiction in 2025, down from 99 reported at the same point in 2024, according to news3lv.com. Of those, the Downtown Area Command, which includes the 89101 and 89104 ZIP codes, reported the most homicides of any area command with 14.
Friday's investigation near Fremont and Eastern remains active, and police have not released further details about what prompted the shooting report or the circumstances surrounding the three people detained.
