Sacramento's downtown ice rink is firing up the Zamboni again, with fresh ice and a $2 opening-day deal set for Nov. 4, 2026 at Ali Youssefi Square. A 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony will kick off the season before skaters hit the ice, and organizers say new figure and hockey skating lessons are joining the lineup this year.
According to FOX40, the ribbon-cutting will bring together local leaders, community members and partners before the gates open to the public. The rink sits at Ali Youssefi Square at 7th and K streets, a location confirmed by abc10.com, and it sits near Golden 1 Center, DOCO, and a cluster of shops and restaurants, per FOX40.
Michael Ault, executive director at the Downtown Sacramento Partnership, said the rink welcomes first-time skaters and longtime visitors alike. He added that the new figure and hockey lessons will provide more learning opportunities for skaters of all ages and experience levels, according to FOX40's reporting.
Pricing and Hours for the Season
On regular days, general admission runs $15, while children ages 6 and under pay $8, with skate rentals included in both prices — figures that matched last season's rates, according to the Downtown Sacramento Partnership. Regular hours run from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays through Sundays, per FOX40, though weather conditions may affect operating hours.
FOX40 reports the rink is scheduled to operate Tuesdays through Sundays from Nov. 4, 2026 through Jan. 18, 2027. The Downtown Sacramento Partnership's 2025-2026 announcement said the rink would stay open through January 19, 2026.
Group Bookings and Private Parties
Groups of 10 or more can book dedicated two-hour skating sessions online, FOX40 notes, continuing a reservation option the rink has offered in past seasons, according to the Downtown Sacramento Partnership. Anyone looking to rent out the entire rink for a private event or party can call 916-442-8575 to arrange it.
The rink is presented by Dignity Health, a sponsorship that has carried over from last season's run, the Downtown Sacramento Partnership's own announcement shows. The venue also sits near seasonal draws like the Theatre of Lights show and holiday tree at the Old Sacramento Waterfront, as well as winter performances at the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center, according to FOX40.
A Three-Decade Downtown Tradition
The ice rink has operated as a family-friendly tradition since 1991 and draws more than 40,000 skaters annually, according to the Downtown Sacramento Partnership's own figures. Past seasons have paired the rink with community promotions, including free first-two-hour skating periods backed by the Sacramento A's, as reported by mtdemocrat.com.
In past seasons, discounts have included $5 off with a Western Health Advantage card or a same-day receipt from a DOCO business, and $2 off with a same-day SacRT ticket or pass, per abc10.com's past reporting on the rink. Veterans and active-duty military members with ID have also been able to skate free, the same report notes — a perk that has made the rink a recurring stop for families and visitors exploring downtown's winter offerings each year.
