CurTec is putting another $10 million into its Westminster facility and adding 10 new jobs, the company announced, as it expands the warehouse and production lines at its only U.S. manufacturing site. The expanded operations are expected to come online in summer 2027, giving the Dutch packaging maker more room to produce and store plastic drums and pails for pharmaceutical customers.
According to wspa.com, the new investment will go toward increasing local production, capacity and inventory at the facility located at 365 Oconee Business Parkway in Westminster. CurTec plans to expand its existing warehouse and production lines there, part of an effort to increase its capacity to manufacture and store drums and pails for pharmaceutical markets. The station reports that operations tied to this latest round of growth are expected to be online starting summer 2027.
CurTec first opened its Westminster facility in 2023, the station notes, marking the company's first production location outside the Netherlands. That original project, as reported by sccommerce.com, was announced as a $13 million investment expected to create 32 jobs over five years, with plans for blow molding, injection molding, assembly and distribution operations at the site. CurTec produces plastic drums, pails and jars for leading pharmaceutical, specialty chemicals and food ingredients companies, per that same announcement.
A Facility Built With Room to Grow
When CurTec broke ground in Oconee County, the company described the Westminster site as part of the Oconee Industrial & Technology Park, consisting of 24 acres, with a 33,000-square-foot facility designed to accommodate future expansion, according to curtec.com. That location was set up to serve as the company's main production facility for North America. CurTec said at the time that it had seen a strong increase in demand for its packaging from pharmaceutical, specialty chemicals and food ingredients customers in North America, a trend the company cited as the reason for bringing manufacturing stateside in the first place.
CurTec was founded in 1991 and is based in Rijen, Netherlands, per sccommerce.com. The company now has manufacturing operations in both the Netherlands and the United States, along with sales offices spanning Europe, North America and Asia, according to prnewswire.com. That same release describes a global customer base of more than 300 companies across pharmaceutical, specialty chemicals and high-integrity logistics sectors.
Investor Backing and a Push Into Adjacent Markets
CurTec's growth has drawn outside investment as well. Ampersand Capital Partners announced in July 2025 that it would work with CurTec to expand capacity and strengthen commercial capabilities, the prnewswire.com release states. CurTec's chief executive said at the time the company was focused on scaling U.S. operations, advancing product innovation, expanding its footprint and growing into adjacent markets.
Back in 2023, CurTec framed its move into U.S. manufacturing as a way of strengthening its market position, increasing its service level to customers and decreasing the carbon footprint of its operations, according to the curtec.com announcement. Bart van Berkel said the latest expansion is the next step in that trajectory, according to Greenville Business Magazine, which reported CurTec's plans to broaden the range it manufactures in the United States and continue growing its team and operations in South Carolina.
Part of a Broader Manufacturing Wave in Oconee County
CurTec's expansion lands amid a string of manufacturing investments in the county. Mosdorfer LLC selected Oconee County in June for its first U.S. operation, a project described by the governor's office as a $44.55 million investment expected to create 107 jobs. Baxter Manufacturing also announced an expansion in the county last November, a $15.7 million investment projected to add 36 jobs, according to sccommerce.com.
The Oconee Economic Alliance has pointed to broader momentum behind these announcements, noting that manufacturing employment in the county has grown by nearly 50 percent since 2020. For CurTec, the latest $10 million commitment adds another chapter to a Westminster footprint that started as a single production line three years ago and is now positioning itself for a bigger role supplying pharmaceutical customers across North America.
