A gathering on Highland Road in Easley turned violent early Sunday when a stabbing sent two people to area hospitals and touched off a vehicle chase that ended with an arrest in neighboring Greenville County. The Pickens County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a 911 call around 3:17 a.m. near 1300 Highland Road and found a person with stab wounds to the upper torso.
That person was taken by EMS to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment, according to wyff4.com. While searching the area, deputies located a second person connected to the incident who had also been assaulted, and that individual was taken to Easley Baptist Hospital for treatment.
Chase Spills Into Greenville County
Investigators say a vehicle pursuit followed the initial response, eventually crossing into Greenville County. The chase ended there when deputies stopped the vehicle and took the driver into custody, though the same report does not specify the exact driving offenses involved.
Deputies believe the stabbing stemmed from a social gathering at the location, where the report notes significant alcohol consumption among those present. Despite the violence, authorities described the incident as isolated, saying it poses no danger to the broader community.
Detectives Still Piecing Together Who Was There
According to the same outlet's reporting, Pickens County detectives are continuing to work to identify everyone who attended the gathering as they determine what, if any, criminal charges will follow. As of the latest update, no further details have been released on the number of people present or the nature of the dispute that led to the stabbing.
The investigation remains active, and officials have not released additional information about the condition of either injured person beyond confirming their transport to Greenville Memorial Hospital and Easley Baptist Hospital. FOX Carolina News, which also reported on the Easley stabbing, noted that detectives obtained a search warrant for the incident location as part of the ongoing probe.
