A man in a hooded jacket with white sleeve stripes has been breaking into East Austin businesses for months, according to police, who say he's pulled cash from safes and registers while keeping his face hidden. Austin police are now asking the public to help identify him before he strikes again.

The Austin Police Department says the burglaries happened between March and October 2026, according to the Austin Police Department, which identified one of the reported locations as The Dainty Dillo at 3201 E. Cesar Chavez Street. As reported by KEYE, the suspect targeted multiple businesses across the area, each time making off with money from safes and cash registers.

Police describe the suspect as a Black man between 20 and 30 years old, about 6 feet tall, with an athletic build, the station reports. He was reportedly seen wearing a dark blue or black hooded jacket with white stripes running down the sleeves, and investigators say he concealed his face by pulling the hood tightly over his head during each break-in.

Surveillance Images Released as Detectives Press for Leads

Austin police have released surveillance images of the suspect in hopes someone can put a name to the face obscured in the footage. The department says it is asking anyone who can identify the man to come forward, as detectives continue working to connect the burglaries and track down a suspect.
