Travelers passing through JFK's Terminal 4 now have a 6,935-square-foot reason to arrive early for their flight. Eataly, the Italian restaurant and marketplace brand, opened its newest location there on Monday, October 19, 2026, offering antipasti, traditional pizza and pasta, Italian sweets, salads, wine, and cocktails across more than 200 seats.
The opening makes this Eataly's largest airport location in North America, according to airportimprovement.com, which reported that JFKIAT, the company that operates Terminal 4, announced the opening the same day. The space includes a full restaurant, a wine bar, and a marketplace stocked with grab-and-go options, and it sits in the terminal's Manhattan-themed zone next to the Delta Sky Club and gate B32. As Metropolitan Airport News reported, the location was designed to reflect Manhattan's energy with neutral-toned materials, clear signage, and visible grab-and-go displays, echoing the look of Eataly's original North American flagship in the Flatiron District.
A Joint Venture Built Around New York's Boroughs
The Eataly opening is part of JFKIAT's partnership with an HMSHost-led joint venture first announced in 2025, aimed at bringing a mix of local and diverse food and beverage businesses into Terminal 4, per the same airportimprovement.com report. JFKIAT operates the largest terminal at JFK, serving 21 airlines and more than 27 million passengers annually. HMSHost announced the underlying 15-year contract covering nine new restaurants across more than 16,500 square feet of concessions space back in February 2025, according to HMSHost, which described the Eataly concept at the time as a full-service restaurant blended with a wine bar, grab-and-go items, and curated retail.
That broader push is reorganizing parts of Terminal 4 around the identities of New York City's boroughs, with planning firm Portland Design helping district sections of the terminal by borough vibe, as reported by trbusiness.com. The outlet notes the shift marks a move away from a single-operator food-and-beverage model toward a mix that now includes SSP, Paradies Lagardère, Avolta/HMSHost, and independent operators, with most of the F&B buildout expected to wrap by the end of 2026 and the full commercial overhaul continuing through 2028.
Joining a Growing Terminal 4 Food Lineup
Eataly's new spot joins Brooklyn Tea & Market, FIELDTRIP, Bessou, Chopt, Dos Toros, and Hunt & Fish Club in the terminal's expanding dining portfolio, according to the Moodie Davitt Report. Terminal 4 also saw SSP America and JFKIAT reopen a refreshed Five Borough Food Hall in May 2026, with tenants including For Five Coffee Roasters, Dromos Fresh Greek Food, Mango Taco Truck, Five Borough Food Hall Deli, and 5BFH Pizza, per airportimprovement.com's earlier coverage.
Eataly's North American airport debut was at JFK Terminal 8, before its Terminal 4 location opened on October 19, 2026. A Terminal 8 location at JFK, according to asurairports.com, featured a 5,526-square-foot restaurant, a 1,353-square-foot wine bar, and a retail shop. That outlet reported the Terminal 8 location was part of a JFK rollout that also included Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 locations, and separately, passengerterminaltoday.com reported the JFK rollout was envisioned as the first of three Eataly concessions planned across the airport in 2026, with a Terminal 5 location expected to follow later in the year.
Part of a Larger $19 Billion Overhaul
The Terminal 4 redevelopment sits inside the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's $19 billion transformation of JFK Airport, which includes two new terminals, two expanded and modernized terminals, a new ground transportation center, and a simplified roadway network. JFKIAT has applied 25 years of air terminal operations experience to the Terminal 4 project and says it has awarded roughly 45 percent of its Terminal 4 transformation spend — about $37 million — to minority- and women-owned business enterprises. The authority supports the local community through its 4Good program, which provides resources to area nonprofits and educational institutions.
JFKIAT's selected joint-venture partners for the broader local-business push include Tamalito Inc., Neat Rules Hospitality Group LLC, Kintaro Foods LLC, Kismet Cocktails, Corlis Stone-Littles LLC, SHCAIR LLC, and Fresco's Cantina. Roel Huinink, chief executive officer of JFKIAT, said Eataly's arrival advances efforts to improve the terminal's culinary and passenger experience, while Anthony Alessi, vice president of business development at HMSHost, said the opening reflects the company's vision of transforming travel through exceptional dining. Simone Tosato, Eataly's global head of franchising, said the JFK location expands the brand's travel-space presence in North America and brings its food-centered mission into an airport setting, and Teresa Rizzuto, general manager of John F. Kennedy International Airport, said Eataly gives travelers another chance to experience New York's culinary culture.
