A homeowner near the 8000 block of Old York Road in Elkins Park got an unwelcome surprise from their own security camera: footage of a stranger walking through their backyard with his pants down, caught in what police are calling an act of indecent sexual exposure. Cheltenham Township police are now asking the public to help identify him.

According to NBC10 Philadelphia, the incident happened around 12:36 a.m. on October 22. Glenside Local, citing the same case, reported the man was captured on security camera footage masturbating while walking through the backyard at approximately 12:37 a.m. that same night — a small discrepancy in the reported timing that hasn't been resolved.

What the Surveillance Video Shows

Police said the footage shows a man walking through the backyard with his pants down, engaging in what they described as lewd behavior, according to 6abc. The station reported that the man continued the behavior as he walked down a nearby alley before disappearing out of the camera's view.

The homeowner who reported the incident told police they had never seen the man before. “The complainant didn't know who this person was. Never seen him before,” the station reported, relaying details from the case.

Suspect Description and Possible Charges

Police described the suspect as a White male in his late 20s to early 30s, with a medium height and build and a beard, per the Glenside Local report. Investigators believe he could face charges including indecent exposure and public lewdness, the 6abc report noted.

Cheltenham detectives are asking anyone with information on the man's identity to come forward. Tips can be submitted to Cheltenham detectives at 215-885-1600 or by emailing [email protected], and the department also allows anonymous tip submissions online. No arrest or identification has been reported as of this writing.
