The ANNA Shelter is seeking a quiet, adult-only foster home for Titan, a 10-month-old German shepherd mix recovering from a gunshot wound. The shelter said he still has trauma from the shooting and can continue healing in a foster placement. People interested in fostering him can email [email protected], according to CBS News Pittsburgh.

Titan has improved over the nine days after the shelter learned of his case, CBS reported. His head was initially sore and swollen, but the shelter has cleared him to leave the kennel for foster care.

What is known about the shooting

Pennsylvania State Police contacted the Erie shelter about a dog in serious condition, CBS reported. The shelter identified the dog as Titan. The bullet entered below one eye, injured his tongue and exited beneath his mouth, according to the shelter’s account reported by CBS.

The investigation into who shot Titan remains open, and no suspect has been identified. The shelter said it believes the case will be pursued.

Other animal-cruelty cases

In a separate Erie case, a miniature Australian Shepherd named Prince was found dead in a dumpster after being shot in the head. Erie police brought in the ANNA Shelter after the discovery, according to YourErie.

Statewide, more than 52,000 animal-abuse offenses had been filed since Libre’s Law, also known as Act 10, took effect in late August 2017. Neglect accounted for 61% of those filings, the Unified Judicial System of Pennsylvania reported.
