More than 40 employees have moved from F.W. Webb’s Buffalo operation to its newly opened Amherst store and warehouse, the company says. The Wednesday, July 8, 2026, opening at 735 South Youngs Road shifts the wholesale counter from the company’s 37 Clyde Avenue site to the larger facility.
Clyde Avenue is not closing: F.W. Webb says it will become a valve repair, testing and maintenance shop. The Amherst location is a 140,000-square-foot hub serving plumbing, heating, HVAC/R and industrial customers, with a counter area and warehouse, according to the company announcement. It also includes a training center for product education and certification classes.
Hiring and showroom plans
F.W. Webb says it intends to hire 15 employees for the site. The company also plans a 6,230-square-foot Frank Webb Home bath, kitchen and lighting showroom, expected to open in 2027.
A regional network with different kinds of facilities
The Amherst project is part of F.W. Webb’s expansion in New York, but recent facilities have served distinct purposes. In June 2025, the Rochester Business Journal reported that the company combined its Rochester wholesale and Water Works operations in a 170,000-square-foot facility. That was a consolidation of two existing operations, unlike Amherst’s new wholesale hub.
F.W. Webb also says it began operating a 35,000-square-foot facility in Canastota in 2025 for a Process Controls team relocated from Cazenovia. That specialized operation, described in the company’s announcement, is another different model from Amherst’s broad trade-supply store and warehouse. The examples illustrate the range of functions behind the company’s facility moves, but do not establish how the Amherst site will affect local hiring or trade demand.
F.W. Webb entered the Buffalo market in 2022 through its acquisition of Stritt & Priebe and VJ Stanley, according to its acquisition announcement. The company’s current announcement describes the Amherst opening as part of its ongoing regional growth.
