A fatal crash has shut down the southbound Interstate 15 off-ramp to State Route 146, also known as St. Rose Parkway, and authorities are warning drivers to steer clear of the area. Nevada State Police said the closure began early Tuesday morning and gave no timeline for when the ramp would reopen.

In a post on X, Nevada State Police

confirmed the southbound off-ramp from I-15 to St. Rose Parkway was shut down due to a fatal crash. The agency said both the eastbound and westbound ramps on State Route 146 would remain open, so traffic in those directions should not be affected by the closure.

Troopers urged motorists to use alternate routes and avoid the area entirely while the investigation plays out. According to the same post, the southbound off-ramp will remain closed for an unknown amount of time while investigators do their work at the scene.

No Word Yet on Victims or Cause

As of the alert, no details have been released about who was involved in the crash, what vehicles were part of it, or what caused it. The agency's post did not specify the exact time of the collision or provide any additional location details beyond identifying the affected ramp.

Nevada State Police did not say when drivers can expect the ramp to reopen, only that the closure would last as long as the investigation requires. Commuters heading toward the south valley or using St. Rose Parkway as a connector to I-15 should plan for delays and consider other paths into the area.

A Stretch of Road With a Troubled History

This isn't the first deadly incident near the interchange. In January 2024, a pedestrian died after being struck by a semi-truck on I-15 near St. Rose Parkway, according to News 3 Las Vegas. It is not known whether that crash is connected in any way to Tuesday's closure.

The same southbound I-15 off-ramp at St. Rose Parkway was closed in October 2024.

Nearby Intersection Has Seen Fatal Crashes Before

A few miles away, the intersection of St. Rose Parkway and Eastern Avenue has also seen tragedy. In March 2022, Henderson police and fire crews responded to a two-vehicle collision there around 4:29 a.m., per the City of Henderson. A white 2010 Lexus rear-ended a red 2005 Jeep SUV that was stopped at a traffic signal, and the impact ignited the Jeep's fuel tank, engulfing both vehicles in flames.

The Jeep's driver was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, the city said. Henderson police determined that impairment was not a factor in that crash but said speed was considered a contributing factor. That intersection was shut down in all directions for about three hours while investigators worked the scene, and the city said any charges against the driver remained pending further investigation.

There is no indication that Tuesday's fatal crash on I-15 is connected to either of those prior incidents. For now, drivers in the area are asked to find another route and avoid the southbound ramp to St. Rose Parkway until Nevada State Police give further updates.
